Melissa's Personal Completion Guarantee
Our Commitment
BDMC was built with one goal: to get you the best agent packet possible. That’s our job. It’s what every session, every assignment, and every round of feedback is designed to do. We don’t consider our work done until yours is.
This is the Agent-Ready Packet Completion Guarantee.
Our Promise
If you fully participate in the program — attend the required cohort sessions, complete the assigned work, submit your materials on time, and apply our feedback — we will support you in building an agent-ready packet you’re proud of.
If you meet the eligibility requirements below and your packet is not complete by the end of your cohort, we will continue to work with you at no additional cost until it is. Not a discount. Not a consolation call. We stay in it with you until the job is done.
This Guarantee is built on integrity — ours and yours. We will show up. We ask that you do too.
“If you do the work, we will not let you fail.”
What “Agent-Ready” Means
For purposes of this Guarantee, an “agent-ready packet” means all required packet materials for your specific program have been completed according to our standards, templates, instructions, and revision process.
Depending on your program, this may include a query letter, proposal, synopsis, author bio, comparable titles, sample pages, pitch materials, or other materials identified in the course.
“Agent-ready” means your materials have been completed and revised through our program process. It does not mean we guarantee that an agent, publisher, or editor will request your work, offer representation, or produce any specific professional or financial result. Those decisions belong to third parties. Our commitment is to your packet.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Guarantee, you must satisfy all of the following. These aren’t hoops to jump through — they’re the things that actually make the program work.
1. Attend Required Cohort Sessions on Time
You must attend all required live sessions — cohort calls, Zoom workshops, or other scheduled program events — on time and participate in good faith.
Arriving late, leaving early, or missing required sessions without written approval may affect your eligibility. Replays are provided for convenience and review. Unless we approve otherwise in writing, watching a replay does not replace live attendance for Guarantee purposes.
2. Submit Required Homework and Work-Ups
You must complete and submit all assigned homework, work-ups, drafts, worksheets, and revisions through the required method and by the stated deadline.
Submissions must be complete, responsive to the assignment, and reflect a sincere effort. Incomplete, rushed, or inaccessible work may not count toward Guarantee eligibility.
3. Complete the Required Weekly Work
The program is designed to require approximately 2–3 hours per week of independent work outside of live sessions. To qualify for the Guarantee, your submitted assignments must reflect that effort.
Every participant brings a different writing background, schedule, and set of starting materials. Some participants will need more than 2–3 hours per week. You are responsible for setting aside the time needed to keep pace with the cohort and complete your materials fully.
4. Complete Revisions and Apply Feedback
A first draft is a starting point, not a finish line. To qualify, you must review all feedback we provide, make the requested revisions, and resubmit materials when asked.
The revision process is where the real work happens — and where we earn this Guarantee together. If you skip it, delay it, or ignore it, the Guarantee will not apply.
5. Stay Current With the Cohort Timeline
The program builds week by week. You are expected to stay on schedule with your cohort, complete work in the order provided, and not wait until the final weeks to submit materials from earlier in the program.
Falling behind without following the approved pause process may affect your eligibility.
One-Time Delay or Pause Option
Life happens. We get it. That’s why each participant may request one approved delay or pause — either before the cohort begins or after it has started.
To preserve Guarantee eligibility, the delay or pause must be approved by us in writing, and you must begin the next available applicable cohort within six months of your approved pause. If you do not begin within six months, you may lose eligibility for the Guarantee.
A delay or pause does not waive your responsibility to complete all required sessions, homework, revisions, and other program requirements when you return.
What Happens If You Qualify but Don’t Finish
If you have satisfied all Guarantee requirements and your packet is not complete by the end of your cohort, reach out. We will continue supporting you.
That support may include, at our discretion: additional feedback sessions, written review, access to a future cohort, office hours, make-up support, or another reasonable completion pathway.
This Guarantee exists because we believe in what we built — and we stand behind it. Its purpose is to help committed participants cross the finish line, not to provide an automatic refund or excuse incomplete participation.
What This Guarantee Does Not Cover
This Guarantee does not apply if you:
• Miss required cohort sessions without written approval;
• Regularly arrive late or leave early;
• Fail to submit required homework, work-ups, drafts, or revisions;
• Submit incomplete, rushed, inaccessible, or nonresponsive work;
• Do not apply feedback or complete requested revisions;
• Fall behind without following the approved pause process;
• Delay or pause more than once;
• Fail to begin the next applicable cohort within six months of an approved pause;
• Stop participating in the program;
• Violate program conduct, payment, intellectual property, or community policies; or
• Fail to remain in good standing with your account.
No Guarantee of Third-Party Results
This is a completion guarantee — full stop.
We do not guarantee that you will get an agent, receive a publishing offer, sign a book deal, earn income, secure representation, or receive any specific response from agents, publishers, editors, or other third parties.
Your results beyond the packet depend on many factors: your writing, your concept, market conditions, your platform, your genre, your timing, and decisions made by people we don’t control. What we control is the quality of your packet and the rigor of our process. That’s what we guarantee.
Good-Faith Participation Required
This Guarantee is available only to participants who show up in good faith — which means attending, doing the work, communicating respectfully, meeting deadlines, applying feedback, and making a genuine effort to complete the program as designed.
We reserve the right to determine whether a participant has satisfied the requirements based on attendance records, assignment submissions, revision history, communications, payment status, and program records. We will make that determination fairly, honestly, and with the participant’s best effort in mind.
How to Request Guarantee Support
If you believe you have met all requirements of this Guarantee but have not completed your agent-ready packet by the end of your cohort, contact us in writing at [insert email address] within [insert number] days after your cohort ends.
Your request should include your name, cohort, program, and links or copies of your submitted assignments and current packet materials.
We will review your participation, attendance, submissions, revisions, and program records to determine whether you qualify for additional completion support. We take this process seriously — because we take our commitment to you seriously.
